Hello!
I am Dr. Bremen Vance, an Assistant Professor of Technical Communication in Mercer University’s School of Engineering. I have been teaching since 2011, and I am most interested in the ways technologies enable and shape our communication.
My recent projects have involved examining the presence of patterns in genres that represent the knowledge, skills, and practices of professional writing and teaching. For example, I have been examining the skills and tools that are likely to appear in technical writing job ads. This research adds to discussions about what is important and current in technical writing, but also how we think about specializing.
Ultimately, my scholarship and research are extensions of my interest in teaching. I teach a variety of classes including technical communication, web development, content strategy, and user experience.
When I am not teaching or writing, I am playing games and hanging out with my family. Feel free to take a look around!
